ADHD assessment for adults
Do you put in a great deal of effort, yet still struggle to keep up with everyday responsibilities?
You start several tasks but find it difficult to finish them. You forget appointments, lose things or arrive late despite intending to leave on time. Perhaps you work successfully and fulfil your responsibilities, but only with considerable effort, constant reminders and a sense of being overwhelmed.
Long-standing difficulties that may warrant a professional assessment include:
- maintaining attention while working, reading or talking
- organising time and setting priorities
- procrastination and difficulty completing tasks
- forgetting commitments and frequently losing belongings
- inner restlessness and impulsive reactions.
These difficulties do not necessarily mean ADHD. An assessment helps to understand their origins, consider other possible causes and determine the next steps.
In adults, we explore current functioning as well as the development of difficulties since childhood. Previous reports, school records and information from people close to you, where available, can contribute to the assessment.
ADHD assessment for children and adolescents
Would you like to understand why some everyday responsibilities are so demanding for your child?
Your child struggles to follow instructions, quickly gives up on tasks or needs constant support with homework. They may be noticeably restless and impulsive, or quiet, daydreaming and frequently losing track.
Parents can seek an assessment when they notice:
- difficulty sustaining attention during learning and everyday activities
- frequently forgetting instructions, school supplies and responsibilities
- difficulty organising and completing tasks independently
- pronounced restlessness, interrupting others or difficulty waiting their turn
- difficulties that affect schooling, family life or relationships with peers.
At Poliklinika Golden Mind, we assess children aged six and over and adolescents, using age-appropriate tests and approaches.
The assessment includes an interview with parents or guardians, information about the child’s development and, where needed, information from school. The consultation is conducted by a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry.
The aim is to understand the child’s difficulties and abilities and provide parents with clear recommendations for further support.
Three connected parts of the assessment in one package
1. Psychiatric consultation
The clinical interview focuses on symptoms, their duration and their impact on everyday functioning. Developmental history, available documentation and other or co-occurring difficulties are considered.
The psychiatrist combines the information gathered with the test results to reach a diagnostic conclusion. If treatment or further assessment is needed, they recommend appropriate next steps.
2. Neuropsychological assessment
A psychologist conducts an interview and individually selected testing to assess cognitive and emotional functioning and difficulties relevant to understanding the clinical picture.
Depending on age and clinical indication, WISC-IV, WAIS-IV, MMPI-2, BYI-II, PAI, WMS and other instruments may be used.
Not every test is used with every person. The selection depends on the needs of the assessment, and the results are interpreted alongside the interview, observations and other findings.
3. T.O.V.A. attention test
T.O.V.A. is a standardised computer-based test that records performance during a task involving sustained attention and response control. It provides data on response speed and consistency, as well as errors made during testing.
We use T.O.V.A. 9. The standard test takes approximately 22 minutes, with additional time for instructions and practice; the duration depends on age and administration guidelines.
No individual test, including T.O.V.A., can confirm or rule out ADHD on its own. The diagnostic conclusion is based on a comprehensive professional assessment.
What does the ADHD assessment involve?
You should plan for 2–3 visits to the clinic for the complete process.
When you book, we arrange appointments and provide preparation instructions. The consultation, neuropsychological assessment and T.O.V.A. testing are scheduled according to age and individual needs.
Once all parts of the assessment have been completed, the results are analysed and brought together. You receive the relevant reports, a professional opinion and recommendations for the next steps.
In one place, you receive a coordinated assessment by a psychologist and a psychiatrist, with the contents and price of the package known in advance.

Frequently asked questions about ADHD testing
Do I need to be sure I have ADHD before booking?
No. The assessment is intended for people with suspected ADHD. Its aim is to clarify the difficulties and determine which type of support is appropriate.
Can ADHD be diagnosed in adulthood?
Yes. An adult assessment considers current difficulties and their presence during development, including childhood.
Is the T.O.V.A. test enough for a diagnosis?
No. T.O.V.A. provides additional data on attention and response control. Diagnosis is based on a clinical assessment and the integration of all relevant information.
Why are several visits needed?
The interview, testing and analysis of results take time. Completing the process over 2–3 visits allows the individual parts of the assessment to be scheduled and brought together into a professional conclusion.
What if the assessment does not confirm ADHD?
The findings can help to understand the difficulties and guide further assessment or support. Recommendations are based on the needs identified, regardless of whether ADHD is confirmed.
