Specialist in Psychiatry, Sub-specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Sub-specialist in Psychotherapy. I graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb in 2003. I began my specialization in psychiatry in 2007 at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb where, after completing my specialization in 2013, I continued to work and further educate myself at the Clinic for Psychological Medicine and the Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of Zagreb University Hospital Centre.
During my residency, I studied psychotherapeutic techniques such as psychoanalytic psychotherapy, group analysis, and psychoanalysis. I am a sub-specialist in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. During my residency, I attended postgraduate specialist studies at the School of Medicine in Zagreb in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. I was a professional associate at the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb.
I am a member of the Croatian Psychiatric Association and other professional associations at the Croatian Medical Chamber. I have participated in numerous domestic and international congresses where I actively presented my professional papers.
Specialist in Psychiatry, Sub-specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I completed my primary and secondary education and School of Medicine in Zagreb. I specialized in psychiatry at Zagreb University Hospital Centre. Throughout my career, I have worked in general psychiatry at General Hospital Koprivnica (patients of all types of diagnoses), at Psychiatric Hospital Popovača in the department with chronic psychotic patients, at University Hospital Centre Sestre Milosrdnice at the Institute for Addiction Treatment, and at the Children’s Hospital Zagreb. At Children’s Hospital Zagreb (commonly known as “Klaićeva”), as a sub-specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry, I worked with children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I was the head of the Psychotrauma Center, which later evolved into the Polyclinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a day hospital, of which I was the head until I retired.
I completed my postgraduate studies in psychotherapy at the School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, and I earned my master’s degree in 1992. My psychotherapeutic education included individual and group psychoanalytic therapy classes, transactional analysis, therapy for post-traumatic conditions in children and adults (Rotterdam), and I participated in multi-year practical and theoretical training in the field of “Child abuse and neglect” as a part of the international program “The Children’s Mental Health Alliance” conducted in Budapest, Warsaw, Prague, and Slovenia.
In 1996, I founded the Brave Phone, a helpline for abused and neglected children. I am a co-founder of the Croatian Association for Abused and Neglected Children and its former secretary. I was a co-founder and one of the leaders of the programs “Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Croatia”, “Prevention of Aggressive Behaviour in Children”, “Assistance to War Victims”, and the “Prevention of Drug Addiction in Croatia”. I was a member of the first-instance expert body for children at the Ministry of Social Welfare from 1996 to 2013 and a member of the Commission for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from 2016 to 2023. I am a permanent member of the Ministry of Health team for underage transgender individuals. I am a member of professional societies at the Croatian Medical Chamber in the fields I professionally engage in.
I obtained my master’s degree in psychology from the Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb in 2008. Since 2009, I have been employed at Zagreb University Hospital Centre, at the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine. In 2011, I enrolled in education for individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy. In 2015, I attained the status of clinical psychologist, and in the academic year 2012/2013, I enrolled in the University Postgraduate Doctoral Study “Biomedicine and Health”, where I defended my doctoral dissertation titled “Attachment, Self-Esteem, and Emotional Adjustment in Patients with Bulimia Nervosa” in 2017, thereby earning the academic degree of Doctor of Science in the scientific field of biomedicine and health.
I received an Erasmus+ scholarship for professional training in Germany at the “Universitätsklinikum Ulm Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie”. I am a member of several domestic and international societies in the fields of psychology and psychotherapy. I have actively participated in numerous domestic and international professional and scientific conferences and have published many works in the fields of psychology and psychotherapy in domestic and international journals.
I graduated in psychology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. I am employed as the executive director and president of the Brave Phone association, and I started my stint at Brave Phone as a volunteer in 2001. I worked as a program coordinator for all programs of Brave Phone and as a counsellor in the Counselling Centre for Parents and Children, and I lead supervisions and education for volunteers of the Association.
I completed the second level of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma-focused CBT, Art Therapy, as well as many other training sessions such as the use of associative cards in psychotherapy.
For years, I taught at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek in the course Competent Parenting, initiated the course Psychology Volunteer in Civil Society, and held the course Abused and Neglected Children at the Teacher Training College in Slavonski Brod.
I regularly present at professional scientific gatherings in Croatia and abroad and educate experts on topics related to the prevention and work with abused children, communication and communication skills, telephone and e-counselling, volunteer management, management in the NGO sector, fundraising, helper stress, parenting, and education, about which I have published scientific and professional papers and books (Violence Against Children and Among Children and The Science and Art of Education).
I completed my studies in psychology at the Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb. After finishing my studies, I completed my internship at the SUVAG Polyclinic, where I worked for some time as a VT teacher-rehabilitator. After that, I was employed at the Psychiatric Hospital for Children and Youth where I still work in the fields of psychodiagnostics and counselling for children and adolescents.
I am educated in implementing various psychodiagnostic tools. I am a co-author of several papers related to auto-aggressive and suicidal behaviour in youth, and I have participated in several domestic and international conferences.
I completed my master’s degree in psychology at the Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb in 2018, and in 2021 I enrolled in a doctoral program in psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In addition, I completed a four-year education in Gestalt psychotherapy and counseling (2019–2023, trainee under supervision, IGW Center Zagreb) and a two-year education in sexual therapy (2023–2025, trainee under supervision, Croatian Society for Sexual Therapy).
As a psychologist, I worked at the Child and Youth Protection Center of the City of Zagreb (2019–2021), where I conducted psychological diagnostics and treatment for abused and neglected children, children who were victims of peer violence, as well as counseling for parents and guardians. I continued my practical work through psychological counseling at the Student Counseling Center of the University of Zadar (2021–present) and at the Teaching and Clinical Center of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb (2022–2023).
Since 2021, I have been employed as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Psychology, University of Zadar, and since 2025, I have been participating as a collaborator in courses in developmental and clinical psychology. I have received additional training in the use of various psychodiagnostic instruments, conducting forensic interviews with children, crisis interventions, treatment of sexual trauma, loss and grief, self-harm, and emergency situations in child and adolescent psychiatry.
I have attended and led multiple workshops on the use of associative cards in therapy. I am the author and co-author of several scientific and professional papers published in national and international journals, covering topics in clinical, health, developmental, and trauma psychology. I actively participate in national and international scientific conferences, where I present findings from empirical research, primarily in the field of child and adolescent mental health.
